3 nights from $3,871 per person
Day 1: Arrive in Bella Coola, British Columbia
Welcome to the Great Bear Rainforest! When you arrive at Bella Coola airport, Tweedsmuir Park Lodge staff are there to greet you and transfer you to Tweedsmuir Park Lodge (unless you arrive at the lodge by car). If you arrive before 12:00, you can enjoy lunch with your hosts. Begin your adventure with an orientation tour of the resort and mapping out what activities you are interested to pursue during your stay. Your private package is designed to be flexible, letting you decide what activities you do on what day. A general schedule is laid out for each day, but may be adjusted for weather, animal activity and other preferences.
Hotel: Tweedsmuir Park Lodge (3 Star Rating)
Tweedsmuir Park Lodge is situated at the junction of the Atnarko, Talchako, and Bella Coola Valleys. Looking southwest from the front patio, there is 600 metres of river frontage and stunning views of the aptly named Mt. Stupendous and Mt. Melikan. It's an exceptional location and has been a favourite place for local First Nations people to camp and fish for thousands of years. The lodge property is also known as Stuie, which means "nice place to rest" in the Nuxalk language.
Meal(s): Dinner, Lunch
There is no better way to observe the local wildlife than with a silent and scenic drift down the Atnarko River. In the afternoon you can head out on a guided walk to learn about the flora and fauna of the Great Bear Rainforest. Take a day to be introduced to the old growth forests of Tweedsmuir Park on an interpretive Nature Walk or visit the old homesteads and frontier trapper cabins of Tote Road.
Meal(s): Breakfast, Dinner, Lunch
After breakfast it’s time to head out with your naturalist guide for a Nature Walk in the old- growth forests of Tweedsmuir Park. Your guide will explain the ecology of the area and show you how to track grizzly bears. Enjoy a packed lunch in the field before continuing on to the Via Ferrata where experienced guides will help you up short rock faces, across thin ledges and along ridge lines, all at their pace, making sure they can make the most of the stunning natural landscape in a safe manner. There are two route options; a moderate vertical ladder route and a more advanced route that includes 2 aerial wire bridge sections with overhead support cables. Optional substitution for an additional Nature Walk or Scenic River Drift (space permitting).
Meal(s): Breakfast, Dinner, Lunch
After breakfast, you either depart the lodge independently, or are assisted with your transfer to Bella Coola Airport.
