Trip Overview :

This 8 day trek to the Everest region offers excellent views of Mount Everest and many other imposing Himalayan peaks. You will be accompanied by a local Sherpa guide and will have time to acclimatize to the altitude at Namche Bazaar which is the hub of all trekking and climbing in the Everest region. You will have accommodation during the trek at local lodges/tea houses.

A short flight from Kathmandu to Lukla will start you off on the right foot with the aerial views of the mountains. On arrival, it’s off right away on your trek. On arrival at Namche Bazaar, you will immediately have stunning views of the mountain peaks. It is also the main trading centre for the region and famous for its Saturday morning market selling real bargains.

The Khumjung Valley is at the foot of the most sacred mountain to the Sherpas, Mount Khumbiyale. The village of Kunde lies in a very beautiful fertile green valley where views of Mount Everest in all its majesty can be experienced.

Returning back to Lukla, one then returns by air to Kathmandu having trekked through exceedingly attractive landscapes.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive in Kathmandu

It is a panoramic thrill flying into Kathmandu on a clear day. The views of snow-capped mountain peaks sprawling down below you are almost ecstatic, beginning a whole chain of memorable experiences that stay with you for a long, long time. A representative and driver will meet you at the airport and escort you to your designated hotel.




Day 2: Kathmandu to Lukla & Phakding

Take the short mountain flight to Lukla (2,860m). Upon arrival meet the trekking crew and start our walk to Phakding.


Descend through the rhododendrons forest with views of the valley to our right. Dudh Koshi river approaches as we pass a mani wall and arrive at Ghat. We follow the Dudh Khosi river to Phakding. As we walk through the Sherpa villages, we notice an impressive display of faith in Buddhism and cultural practices associated with it as prayer stones dot the landscape and prayer flags flap in the wind.

Day 3: Phakding to Namche Bazaar

After breakfast, we start our walk to Namche. The walk is pleasant with few short uphill and downhill with multiple crossings over Dudh Koshi River and magnificent view of Mt. Thamserku (6,608 m) from the Benkar village. We cross more bridges and reach entrance of Sagarmatha National Park at Monjo, where our trekking permits are checked in order to keep record of trekkers and local trekking staffs as well.


A descend and a gradual walk brings us to Jorsale, the last village until Namche Bazaar. The walk is enjoyable through the river bed and we reach Hillary Suspension Bridge. Now, as we climb up hill towards Namche Bazzar, closer and magnificent sight of Kwangde Peak, Kusum Kangaru, Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Tawache, and many other fabulous mountains will be viewed closely. We stop at Chautara to admire the view. Finally, we reach the colorful village of Namche Bazzar, the main gateway of Khumbu region.

Day 4: Exploring Namche Bazaar

After breakfast, turning away from the main Everest trail we head out past Namche's gompa to join a high alpine trail contouring Nepali flat style along and gently up through pine forest and meadows to the hamlet of Thamo.


This trail forms part of the entry route to Tibet, which passes near the 8,012-metre peak of Cho Oyu, first climbed in 1954. It is also the historical route that the Sherpa's migrated from eastern Tibet 800 years ago. Thamo is also the home Ang Rita Sherpa, who holds the record for scaling Mt Everest ten times without oxygen. After lunch at Thamo, we retrace our step back to Namche.

Day 5: Namche to Thyanboche

Today you will trek from Namche which follows above the DhudhKoshi River and slightly goes down to PhungiTenga small town on the side of River. Then continue to the Tengboche, most popular and beautiful place for its beautiful monastery and local culture and to Deboche.

Day 6: Thyanboche to the Khumjung Valley

After breakfast, we will start our trek today with half an hour uphill to Tengboche and from there an hour downhill to Phungni thangna. From here approx two hours up hill to Kyangjuma and lastly another one hour gradual uphill to reach Khumjung.

Day 7: Khumjung to Monjo

After breakfast, we will start our trek with approx 30 minutes uphill to Shyangboche and after that approx 3 hours downhill to Jhorsale and another unsulating walk of approx 30 minutes till Monjo.

Day 8: Monjo to Lukla

The trail today passes through a lot of villages. You begin by going down to Phakding and then, after more down, you eventually start climbing up the final rather steep section before reaching Lukla.

Day 9: Lukla to Kathmandu

In the morning, you'll hop a brief flight from Lukla to Kathmandu. You'll transfer to your hotel upon landing for some much-needed solo rest and reflection after your trek conquering the Himalayas.


Upon arriving in Kathmandu, you will be transferred to the hotel and rest of the day will be free for leisure.
