Day 2: Adventure Class Rail Service from Anchorage to TalkeetnaToday you will independently transfer between your hotel and Anchorage train station (or vice versa). Day 3: Denali Flightseeing Adventure with Glacier LandingThis tour takes you within 6 miles of Denali's north summit (19,470 ft.) and south summit (20,320 ft.). Enter an ancient world of rugged high mountain peaks, towering snow-capped mountains and glacier-filled valleys and explore the south and east faces of Denali. View the vertical rise of Denali starting at its base of around 2000 ft mean sea level to over 20,320 ft. Take in the flowing river of the Ruth Glacier, the renowned Sheldon Amphitheater (glacier landings often done here), the Great Gorge with its mile high granite walls - the world's deepest, and the intense blue melt water pools that dot the glaciers. Experience standing on a glacier in the Heart of Denali National Park.
Day 4: Exploring the Lakes Around TalkeetnaSet out to explore the scenic trails near Talkeetna alongside an expert private guide on this half-day adventure. Just a short drive from town, the Talkeetna Lakes area offers a beautiful introduction to Alaska's wilderness. Along the trails, learn about the region's lakes, flora, and wildlife while watching for loons and kingfishers gliding across the water. Moose and even bears are occasionally spotted in these wild surroundings. Walk beneath towering old-growth trees alive with songbirds, discover seasonal wildflowers and mushrooms, and break along the way to enjoy a locally sourced baked snack. Following your scenic hike, you will be returned to your accommodations in Talkeetna.
Rooted in history and surrounded by surreal landscapes, a day at leisure in Talkeetna offers a relaxed glimpse of classic Alaska. Wander the compact historic downtown, where early homesteads now house local art shops, cafes, and small museums. Consider a stop to learn about mountaineering history at the Talkeetna Historical Society Museum, walk along the river to enjoy wide-open views toward Denali (at least on a clear day). Evenings are best spent with hearty comfort food, local brews, and friendly conversation at a traditional roadhouse.

Day 6: Goldstar Rail Service from Anchorage to Seward and Kenai Fjords Wilderness LodgeToday, you'll be making your way to Kenai Fjords Wilderness Lodge. The adventure begins in earnest at the Kenai Fjord Adventure Center, where you're asked to check in by approximately 11am. As midday rolls around, staff with the Kenai Fjords Tours will lead the way as you embark on a 45-minute cruise to nearby Fox Island, host to Kenai Fjords Wilderness Lodge. Upon arrival, staff from the lodge will be waiting to greet you and will provide a short orientation before seating you to enjoy a delicious, Alaskan-inspired lunch. The afternoon is yours to explore this beautiful and rugged paradise. Take a 45-minute guided beach hike or set out on your own or perhaps enjoy the wood-fire sauna. Dinner is served in the main lodge between 6pm and 8pm, and as sunset gives way to the night sky, you'll be greeted by spectacular constellations overhead before settling in for a night of rest.

Kenai Fjords Wilderness Lodge is located on the beautiful and remote Fox Island, just a short 45-minute boat ride from Seward, Alaska. This privately owned parcel of land is nestled in the woods between an ocean side pebble beach and a quiet island lagoon. The immense wilderness lodge windows look out across gorgeous Halibut Cove where guests should keep their eyes on the lookout for sea lions or humpback whales that on occasion will surprise. The lodge features a cozy guest lounge and dining room with expansive views of the island and the ocean bay. Eight priate guest cabins situated on the narrow peninsula of land each include one queen bed and one queen-sized sofa-sleeper, premium linens and towels, a private bathroom with shower, propane heating and solar powered electric lights.

Day 7: Activities at Kenai Fjords Wilderness LodgeToday serves as an excellent option for a guided sea kayaking tour through the protected waters of Resurrection Bay. Here, lucky visitors can spot eagles, puffins, sea lions and seals while exploring the rocky coves of Fox Island. On occasion, you can even spot whales close to the shore. Kenai Fjords Wilderness Lodge includes a guided kayaking experience during your trip. This kayaking tour can be arranged to last a half-day or for the full day, to begin in the morning, afternoon or evening, and can (if choosing the afternoon or evening option) be done on your arrival day if you wish. No matter your choice, you'll find that the day is accented not only with outstanding scenery but also with delicious food over your included breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Day 8: At Leisure at Kenai Fjords Wilderness LodgeToday is yours to enjoy as you see fit. Feeling active? Seasoned hikers can take on the challenging Fox Island trail for an excellent bird's-eye view. Or you can borrow a paddleboard or canoe to explore the island's lagoon. Looking to relax? Unwind in the wood-fired saunas, spot wildlife from the main lodge with complimentary binoculars or cozy up and read by the fire. And before dinner is served, be sure to attend the "Drinks & Thinks" session that happens in the mid-afternoon and perhaps stick around for the "Paint & Sip" session if you wish to put some of your recent adventures to canvas.

Day 9: From Kenai to Anchorage with Northwestern Fjords Cruise and Goldstar Rail ServiceAfter a hot and hearty breakfast, you'll depart this morning on the Northwestern Fjord Cruise. Travel farther into Kenai Fjords National Park than with any other cruise and visit the magnificent Northwestern Fjord, home to three amazing tidewater glaciers and numerous alpine glaciers. Kenai Fjords National Park boasts abundant wildlife, alpine and tidewater glaciers and breathtaking scenery. This cruise is the best way to see this pristine National Park and its inhabitants. Also, visit the Alaska Maritime National Wildlife Refuge, an island home to large seabird rookeries; it is an outstanding opportunity to see the untouched beauty of Alaska's coastal waters. Your Northwestern Fjords Tour will end in Seward, where you will continue with your onward travels.
